Ready to Spring Clean your Instagram?

With spring around the corner, let's spring clean your Instagram followers list!

Deleting followers can seem hard to do! We work so hard to get our follower number up and now we're deleting them?????

Here are two reasons why it actually helps your account.

1. Engagement can lead to better interactions with your followers and those who follow you. By cleaning up the lists, you can see more content and accounts that the algorithm was previously passing over

2. Your engagement percentage is the ratio of how many followers you have compared to your amount of likes and comments per post. This can influence who see your posts. Refreshing those followers list can improve this percentage. So the people who actually want to see your post will now see your posts. They are the ones who will likely engage with it and therefore making the algorithm happy.

First, go to the “Following” section of your account. Here you will see the two options: “Least Interacted With” and “Most Shown in Feed.” These can help you decide who to unfollow.

Choose the “Least Interacted With” section. Go through this list and, you can decide who to unfollow. Explore your followers list and delete the ones that are inactive or spam.

How can you tell???

To detect bots and spammers, you need to pay attention to the following basic things:

1. The lack of a profile picture and posts.

2. A username consisted of a set of numbers or letters or both.

3. No profile bio description.

4. A high number of subscriptions and a small number of followers.

5. Absence of content or content full of ads and questionable offers.

To detect Ghost followers:

A ghost follower is an Instagram account that follows you but doesn’t actively engage with your page.

Ghost followers can negatively impact your engagement rate and take your organic posts away from the feeds of genuine followers.

To recognize a ghost follower, usually they have one or more of the following:

  • 0 posts

  • No profile picture

  • High ratio of people they follow-for-follow

  • 0 posts

Once you identified a bot or a ghost account you want to remove:

1. Open your profile

2. Click on the “Followers” section below your username

3. Go to the profile you need to remove

4. Tap “…” (three dots at the upper right corner of the screen)

5. Choose “Remove Follower”

6. It’s done

Tip!!!!

Before you start spring cleaning your account think about how you can Start promoting your account, so you can gain real followers instead of bots you are about to remove.
